ORN Fall 2026 - OUD Treatment: Induction, Stabilization, and Tips for Success in the Perinatal Period
Description:
The opioid epidemic has had a profound impact on pregnant individuals and their families, contributing to rising rates of opioid use disorder (OUD), neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome, and maternal morbidity and mortality. Through a real-world clinical case, participants will explore practical strategies for addressing the complex medical, behavioral, and social needs of pregnant patients with OUD while reducing stigma and improving maternal and neonatal outcomes.

Learning objectives:
At the conclusion of this seminar, attendees should be able to:
  • Review how the opioid epidemic has impacted the pregnant population.
  • Evaluate the medication treatment options for opioid use disorder in pregnancy.
  • Describe the components of comprehensive care for the treatment of opioid use disorder in pregnancy and the postpartum period.
