  1. Evaluate outcomes for Opioid Use Disorder in patients receiving buprenorphine through the Emergency Department and discuss supporting evidence
  2. Identify barriers and solutions to initiating buprenorphine in the Emergency Department
  3. Discuss innovative solutions for buprenorphine induction in the ED including different formulations of buprenorphine and high dose strategies

Speaker:
Gail D'Onofrio, MD, MS

Gail D'Onofrio, MD, MS is the Albert E. Kent Professor of Emergency Medicine and Professor of Medicine and Public Health in the Schools of Medicine and Public Health at Yale University. She served as the Inaugural Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Yale School of Medicine from 2009-2022.
Dr. D'Onofrio has extensive experience as a leader, researcher, mentor, and educator.  She is internationally known for her work in alcohol and other substance use disorders as well as her research on gender disparities in the treatment, and outcomes of young individuals with acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction.  As a physician-scientist she has had continual NIH-funding for over two decades designing and conducting clinical trials that have changed clinical practice. 
Dr. D'Onofrio is the PI of the New England Consortium Node (Dr. Weiss Harvard MPI) for the NIDA Clinical Trials Network. She is the PI of a NIDA funded K12 (Dr. O'Connor MPI) "Drug Use, Addiction and HIV Prevention" training program with scholars in multiple disciplines. I She is committed to preparing young faculty to become independent investigators, advancing the science of Emergency Medicine and Addiction.
