ORN Spring 2025 - Peer-Assisted Telemedicine for Hepatitis C (PATHS)
Description:

The lecture outlines the hepatitis C virus (HCV) epidemic in the United States, focusing on missed opportunities for HCV elimination. We discuss results of a randomized controlled trial which showed four-fold improvement in HCV cure among those allocated to a peer-assisted telemedicine HCV treatment program, compared to enhanced usual care. We conclude by sharing findings from the state-wide implementation of the intervention throughout Oregon.

Learning objectives:
At the conclusion of this seminar, attendees should be able to:
  1. Describe the HCV epidemic in the Pacific Northwest
  2. Describe findings of a randomized trial of peer-assisted telemedicine for HCV treatment
  3. Describe implementation of a peer-assisted telemedicine HCV elimination model
